Chennai gets a new club

July 2004

Chennai PR Club has been formed at Chennai, India to bring together all the Public Relations professionals, agencies, students, researchers and teachers handling PR and communication for enhancing professional skills. Ms Vidya Swaminathan, President of the Club said that the unique aspect of this Club is that the members of the Managing Committee are less than 30 years of age, symbolizing the youth empowerment in communication.

Mr Donald Charumbira, Secretary General of World Assembly of Youth, youth arm of United Nations in his congratulatory message said, "Public relations is critical if world peace, understanding and harmony are to be achieved" and he desired that the PR professionals to play a greater role in this task.

Ms Vidya Swaminathan (CEC Onyx) and Mr S Rajagopal (Hanmer and Partner PR) have been elected as President and Vice President. Mr Sathish Issac (Amazing Communication) and Ms Marceline (Management and News) have been elected as Secretary and Treasurer respectively.

Mr K. Srinivasan, Chairman, Prime Point Foundation, who facilitated the formation of the Club said that similar clubs would be organised at different centers of the country, to bring together all the PR professionals for professional enrichment.
