e-Revolution in the classroom : views of a web visitor

Wasim Hussain, New Zealand

July 2004

I was reading through the article written by Nisha Jose (e-Revolution in the classroom) and wish to acknowledge my comments on the same.

To begin with this topic, it is out of normal reckoning for most educational or tertiary institutes in India. The cost involved on these applications - be it an ERP or Best of Breed systems to support the same - is a far cry for most institutes.

Having a pragmatic approach to an issue is manifested in the form of accurate and concise information. I personally reckon that for conventional tertiary institutes in India, there is certainly a light at the end of the tunnel - only that it’s of an oncoming train!!

We have very good institutes in India, excellent staff and students, but where we fall back on is in the fact that our infrastructure to support a good idea in negated owing to this.

If imperative improvement's in the existing status of infrastructure is adhered to, I personally reckon that our tertiary institutes will be a force to reckon with in the future.
