MakeMyTrip.com awarded the best Travel & Tourism company in India

MakeMyTrip.com, the leading online travel company has been awarded with the CNBC-TV18 & ICICI Bank “Emerging India Awards” in the Travel & Tourism (T&T) category for the year 2006. These awards are a pioneering initiative to recognize the contribution of Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) towards the growth of the Indian economy.

The CNBC-TV18 ‘Emerging India Awards’ initiative recognizes the most sustainable Value Creators among SMEs in the country. This prestigious award received 35,000 nominations this year and MakeMyTrip.com won the top honours in the T&T category.

In the recently concluded Abby awards MakeMyTrip won the gold and a silver for their viral marketing campaigns - “Chidya Uddi” and “Chalo Lanka” respectively - in the Digital Innovation Category. Also MakeMyTrip bagged a Gold and Bronze for its viral marketing campaign at the recently concluded AAAI Goafest 2006. Both these campaigns were designed and developed by Webchutney, an interactive consulting company.

MakeMyTrip India

The India business of MakeMyTrip was launched in September 2005. As the first and only comprehensive online travel site with real time booking for flights, hotels, holidays and cars, MakeMyTrip.com is heralding a revolution in the way travel will be bought in India.

Within six months of its launch MakeMyTrip has acquired nearly 60,000 delighted customers and sells over 2000 flight tickets, 150 hotel room nights and over 50 holiday packages every day. The site attracts over 650,000 unique visitors every month according to Webside Story, HBx Analytics, an independent traffic-monitoring agency. In India MakeMyTrip has also partnered with ICICI to power their TravelSmart Card, Visa and Kingfisher to service their travel offers and also power the online flight auctions of GoAir and Kingfisher on the Rediff website.

Headquartered at New Delhi, MakeMyTrip has projected a turnover of Rs 500 crores (USD 110 Millions) in current fiscal, which is a 100% growth from last year’s registered sales of Rs 200 crores (USD 42 Million). They are also all set to acquire 500,000 customers by March, 2007. MakeMyTrip.com has over 300 employees on board and offers 24x7 customer service.
